The 45th Ohio Volunteer Infantry (or 45th OVI) was an infantry regiment in the Union Army during the American Civil War. ==Service== The 45th Ohio Infantry was organized at Camp Chase in Columbus, Ohio August 19, 1862 and mustered in for three years service under the command of Colonel Benjamin Piatt Runkle. The regiment was attached to 3rd Division, Army of Kentucky, Department of the Ohio, September and October 1862. 1st Brigade, 2nd Division, Army of Kentucky, to January 1863. District of Central Kentucky, Department of the Ohio, to June 1863. 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, XXIII Corps, Department of the Ohio, to July 1863. 2nd Brigade, 4th Division, XXIII Corps, to August 1863. 1st Brigade, 4th Division, XXIII Corps, to October 1863. 2nd Brigade, 4th Division, XXIII Corps, to December 1863. 3rd Brigade, 1st Division Cavalry Corps, Department of the Ohio, to April 1864. 2nd Brigade, 2nd Division, XXIII Corps, to June 1864. 1st Brigade, 2nd Division, XXIII Corps, June 1864. 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, IV Corps, Army of the Cumberland, to June 1865. The 45th Ohio Infantry mustered out of service at Nashville, Tennessee on June 12, 1865. Recruits were transferred to the 51st Ohio Infantry.
